I couldnt agree with you more. This is a huge conflict of interest. Honestly I believe performance enhancing drugs are rampant in the MLB and the names to be released in a few minutes are only a small portion.
With that said, Mitchell alone, got to decide who to persue and who he had "sufficient" evidence on to place in his report. The MLB Players Association already has thier press conference scheduled so they can rebute the charges in the report.
As far as the accusations go, I will believe them to be true. But my issue is that I do not believe this was done fairly, and without some sort of bias. This report is going to tarnish the names of tons of guy without giving them true due process.
Also, who leaked the names of the Yankee players listed? Coincidence the Red Sox are rivals? You tell me.

There is also a director on the Board for the Red Sox that has ownership in ESPN. I think it's Mitchell. That's one reason you never hear anything negative about Boston's teams. So be prepared for ESPN to drag everyone through the mud but the Red Sox.

No I don't think so. I bet there will be some Bo Sox players mentioned. Especially Mo Vaughn. Even though politicians aren't to be trusted I don't think there will be any bias in these reports. At least I hope not.

Mitchell is pretty well respected and trusted in baseball circles. From all indications, he will not keep name off the list because they are on the Sox.

He's probably running for some type of office just to get back to full time politics and think that reaching out to bleeding heart liberals, hippies, fake and bandwagon baseball fans just to get votes by naming random names is wrong.
I'm a true baseball fan and since steroids and HGH were legal when most used them, it's okay as an advantage for healing from injury as long as it's not abused.

I'm a Red Sox fan, but if current Red Sox have used steroids, I want to know about it

yeah which is funny how Paul Byrd was brought up right as the Red Sox were playing Cleveland in the ALCS.
I think it was a coincidence, plus it was a San Francisco newspaper that broke it, but it just looked fishy with him on that board but it wasn't.

Yep, since he's a Red Sox guy, you can probably expect to hear A-Rod and Jeter's names on the report.
