Info I wanted to share.Worldwide emergency # for cells is 112..Hidden battery power.Low battery?press*3370# on cell and get 50% more power, will recharge when you charge phone again.Don't pay the charge for a 411 call, dial 1-800 free 411.No charge.Program into cell.Ever had your phone stolen?Check and know your cell phones serial #,key in the following digits on your phone*#06# a 15 digit code will come up.Write it down and keep somewhere safe.If cell is stolen, call provider and give them this code.It will block your cell from ever being used again, even if they put their SIM card in it.They steal but you get the last laugh. We shared this last nite at a meeting, thought it needed to be shared further.Sorry it is long...

This is the perfect timing! I just got a Red Cross phone that I have to carry at all times since I am on call, this is fabulous information! I am going to print this out and carry it with me.

Thanks a million Maw Maw! I really appreciate the info.

I'd give you a million stars, but they only let me do one at a time

The 411 info is partially correct...yes, you will not be charged a fee for the call, but you will be assessed minutes.....the rest of these info bits??

112 - is available in most of Europe...and few other places

Battery option - only available on certain brands of cell phones

15 digit serial # - only available with certain systems...not all cells/providers

My advice is to check your user booklet for your cell, and also check your provider to see what options are available.

I have Verizon and a Kyocera phone - and none of these work

It's my primary phone. I gave up my land line when our local phone company wanted me to pay to have my driveway torn up so they could install new equipment to get rid of the static on the line.
I have two chargers. One for use at home and the other goes with me when I travel. I think cellular phone technology is superb. I pay a flat rate. No additional charges for long distance and it works no matter where I am in the U.S. at the time. It has automatic voice mail and "missed call" notification features. Plus, because of the Federal Portability law I got to keep my old land line number that I had for over 20 years.

Thanks for sharing that most informative info with us. It's good to know.

I tryed * # 06# & nothing came up. What am I doing wrong? Is # just the # key or my phone number that is needed? After keying in the numbers, what do I hit next? When does the serial # appear?

I would probably buy all of this except the part about the increase in battery power. Battery power is a physical thing. A code isn't going to change that.

Thanks for the info. I emailed this to several friends that have cell phones. Personally I hate phones, particularly cell phones. I know, I know, someday I will have to get one.
