I feel as though when I ask the question, only about 1 out of 4 answers actually answer it, especially if it is a two part question.

It is one thing to make a funny comment rather than answer, but it seems like most people don't even read the whole thing or they fail to fully comprehend what the person is asking (ie someone will ask who the best current receiver in the NFL is, and they'll get 7 responses of Jerry Rice).

What % of answers in the football section actually answer the question?

I do not know about the others but when I read a question I read the whole entire question and than base my answer on that. There are some questions where you can be funny like the green dot ones or Austin N's or Crack Cat (he really is on crack isn't he?) but others I answer thoughtfully and as best of my abilities. Sometimes I answer a question because I disagree with somebody's else answer. Like when somebody asked about the coaching job at Michigan and somebody said Brian Kelly sucks I instantly answered the question by saying what he had done while he was at Grand Valley State, which is the school I attend. My argument was so good I got best answer for that question. Funny how that happens sometimes. But I would have to guess less than 50% of the people on this category actually answer the question. I know you do.

I never go in a specific section .. I just answer random questions because I don't really have a whole lot of knowledge on one specific subject. R&S people make me mad so I don't go there much. I like the Philosophy[thought provoking], Women's Health [I'm helpful there], Polls and Survey's,[easy points] Jokes and Riddles [funny and entertaining]

lol@roger. Ok seriously though I try to actually answer questions, or if they seem sarcastic that is the way I answer them. So yeah I try to give a real answer, and most of the time I see so many questions of the same basic thing, or something I don't care about so I just don't bother to read them or answer them.
OK to be fair about giving a percentage, depends on how you take answering. I think the second guy got it right. You get people that "answer the question" but say basically nothing/the same thing everyone already said first.

The issue is the subject matter. People who lurk in here are a lot of young football fans.
They aren't here to help answer legit questions.
They are here to promote their team.
Just scroll down at how many people like to "ask questions" about the Patriots, Bellicheck, Ohio State, Big 10, etc.
These aren't people here to help. They are here to talk smack.
When you get thant kind of person in such high percentages, you get a lot of people that really don't care what the question is or whether someone is truly seeking new information other than "tell me how great or how bad the Patriots are" or "let's talk about Peyton and Brady again."
Just the nature of the beast.
Of course, if you ask about the green dot on NFL helmets, you will get at least one right answer.

First, to answer your question, I would say roughly 55- 60%.
I agree that a lot of people don't read the whole question or don't fully understand. I try to only answer the questions I can understand or that I actually have a real answer for. Though sometimes, I'll admit, I just like to be a smart a**.

I think

5% answer as Honest as they can

40% have no clue just want the 2 points

55% just want to make fun or complain the Pats cheat or the cowboys are over-rated or Peyton is nothing without his recievers , or complain there are no real fans of any team everyone is on the Bandwagon

I'd say it's pretty low
I mean...I'm pretty guilty of it.

I give smartass answers to a lot of stupid stuff
green dots
fantasy football....
that kind of thing

if you cut out the questions that might not actually deserve a real answer, I'd say about 1/3 of the answers actually answer the question.

there's so much "USC...."
or "The Patriots are great"
no matter what you ask, that it bumps it down

and then you factor in all of the people who read the bolded question and not any of the details....

so again.....I'd say about 11% total
33% if you rule out the green dot/fantasy football/'my team is great?' questions

somebody should conduct a study

The shorter a question is, the more likely someone will answer it quickly and the response will usually cover the subject. When someone goes on to write an epistle, long and wordy, he either gets no answers or he gets an epistle in return. Length is a big turnoff. One should realize this if he is a top contributor.

I either answer the question or post something I think is funny. Either way it is entertaining. Also, if someone asks an idiotic question, I feel it is my responsiblity to let that person know.
