My sis and i want to buy our isp's fastest speed and split the bill half and half and use the same connection. is this possible? if she gets her own router and signs into my account will it log me off? is it legal? i heard it was only illegal to sell it, and i dont see anything wrong with sharing a connection. I have my own router i just wanna know if my sister can log into my dsl account if she buys a router and sets it up at her house and then we can be on at the same time. i dont see why it shouldnt be possible.

(no dumb answers pls :P)

This you cannot do, unless the houses are within range of a wifi link, and if you mean 3 to 4 miles NO CHANCE; even at 3/4 of a mile you need expensive Wifi kit.

Or a HECK of a long cable.

BEtter to both get a cheaper setup and both have broadband

how do see it being possible?
do you know how a router works?
they do not work the way you are thinking of, im actually confused at what you are thinking. but the only way is if you got a really long ethernet that reached from your house to her's via connection through your router. it would work if your sister was down the hall from you say a few feet and you only would need one router. but that is basically impossible get an ethernet cable to 4 miles. plus what you plan on doing would be illegal as well.

I've heard of people getting this kind of range out of a standard linksys type wireless router ... it will involve getting some stuff from radio shack and making a directional antenna ... then a lot of tweaking on both sides. Go to google and look up "pringles can antenna" ... have fun.

you can get the wireless signal only 150ft from the router so NO CAN DO!

unless you are in line of sight and can use wifi there is no feasible method for the signal to carry that far.
sorry!
