What's going on? I live in Tulsa Oklahoma, and after the BoSox won the World Series, you could swear Tulsa changed it's name to Little Boston, same deal with the Patroits. What happened to loyality? I'm a huge sports fan (Jets, Knicks, Mets, Rangers), none of my teams really have much to brag about, but that doesn't mean I'm swapping sides. As the manager of a Lids Hat Store I sell tons of BoSox and Patroits hats daily to people who I swear didn't even no the city they played in last year. It's frustrating! Come on folks, stick to your guns and support your teams regardless of the year there having.

PS. to all you people who have been fans of this year's fantastic teams, congrats! I hope you kick your butts next year!

kool! i used to live in T-town... it is difficult in towns like tulsa (and here in austin) where there are no major league teams. everyone just picks and chooses who to root for professionally, and sadly that usually goes to who is winning now (bandwagon)...

I don't think it's any different this year than before, it's just that Boston is currently monopolizing sports. The Celtics have as good of a chance to win the NBA title this year as any team so yeah, you're gonna see more people hopping on their bandwagon. I would hope you're originally from NY otherwise you probably hopped a bandwagon at some point yourself. If you want the broadbased answer though, people are always gonna be losers and align themselves with success rather than being loyal. That's probably why college sports are so much better in certain ways. Fan loyalty comes from a lot of fans who either attended the school or live in the region. I never went to Penn State but I'm a big fan being in the area. You'll never have to worry about me hopping onto LSU and acting like I'm a fan of theirs. Bandwagon fans will always exist, and in the minds of real fans - they will always remain losers as well.

This happens quite frequently. And I am not really sure that I would call if a Band-wagon fan or a fair-weather fan at all. A lot of people watch football, basketball, etc and like to enjoy a team that is doing well. look at the Bulls during the 90s. Talk about a huge increase in fan base. Look at the number of Bulls fans now. Any great team is going to draw in fans who enjoy watching a team win. I myself am a huge Bengals and 49ers fan. But this year, i can't help but want to root for the Packers. I have always liked Bret Favre and want to see him win this year, if either of my teams aren't going to. I find it hard to believe that a TRUE fan would jump ship when they are doing horrible. But that doesn't mean they can't root for another team that is doing well.

Always man. I lived in OK for a few years during the Steelers most recent run and I couldn't tell you how many Steelers fans came out the woodwork. I know a dude who last year swore he was a Bears, Trojans, and Tigers fan since birth. What a lying tool, but it's funny you see that all the time.

Yeah I know for loyal fans it will be bitter to see all the bandwagoners suddenly appearing all over when your favorite team is winning, then disappear when they are not doing good.

It's human nature I guess. Some people will always want to associate themselves with the positive, including sports team. To them, watching sports are just hobby and doesn't require commitments.

i used to hate the bulls when i was a little kid cause they were winning so much but in the past couple of seasons ive moved to indiana and they show alot of bulls games on tv and i consider them one of my favs because they are young and they have had some pretty good seasons lately. i wouldnt say im a bandwagon fan cause i dont think chicago has those anymore but i would say its more of a maturity to the game that i have now.

ive been a loyal jags fan from the start though. 1995 to the present.

yeah well wherever you go theres always gonna be bandwagon fans. theres no stopping them in changing who they are gonna be fans with. but you know there are always fans who are loyal to their team. its just how it is.
I, on the other hand, AM a redsox fan and a pats fan but thats cuz my dad is from boston (and all my older siblings except me where born in new england) so dont worry im not a bandwagon fan. but even if the redsox go another 86 years without winning a world series ill still be a fan.

Who cares who roots for what team? There has always been a strong contingent of Red Sox fan around the states even before the world series championships, people just like rooting for them. And yeah... there are a lot of bandwagon Patriot fans, but there are also alot of Patriot fans who have been there since the beginning. I mean really... all I'm saying is, bandwagon or not... why does anyone really care?

I have noticed a huge surge in the asking of this one particular question.

At any rate, does answering "yes" resolve anything or does it just satisfy your insatiable curiosity?

So, yes is my official answer.
It does seem so.
I should probably be one because my team is freaking unbelievably horrifying.... but I'm not. I just can't do that.

I've been a Patriots, Celtics, and Red Sox fan for over 30 years, and they've all gone through stretches when they sucked...I never waivered...
