A lot of people are against it but if he hasn't done a smelly for three or four days you'll have to put a baby glycerin suppository in him. Remember it'll make him do a do in 5-15 minutes!

When I breastfed the consultant said it's normal for breastfed babies not to poop everyday. You are feeding him naturally so there isn't as much waste. She said they can even go 3-4 days without pooping but to make sure you stay home on that third day. She was very right. DON'T give him juice or suppositories. He's only a month old.

Don't give your baby ANYTHING other than breastmilk.
Massage your baby's belly in a clockwise direction (not the other way) -- does baby cry due to constipation?
Perhaps you (mom) should also drink some prune juice (1 glass a day at night), and could transfer into the milk you're breastfeeding.
You could try probing the baby with a thermometer -- they did this at the hospital -- but ask the Dr. first.
Breasfed babies break down/digest mother's milk faster than formula and they poop more. Mine goes 2-4 times a day since birth, for a total of 10-14 diapers daily. My friend's baby goes through 6 diapers a day, and he's on formula, and poops once daily.
Call your Dr though. Good luck.

It's normal for a breastfed baby to go days without pooping. It is because the breast milk is nothing but nutrients that a baby's body utilizes. Some breastfed babies can go a week without "pooping" and are completely healthy. As long as your baby is peeing frequently there is nothing to worry about. Your baby should have 6-8 wet diapers a day. If he does not, he is not getting enough milk and could be dehydtrated. If this is the case then his lack of pooping is an indication of this as well.

Breastfed babies don't need to have bowel movements as often. It is common for them to go without having one for a week like that. There isn't as much waste in breastmilk that needs to be filtered out like in formula fed babies. I think it is 13 days a baby can go up to safely without having a bowel movement.
For many new parents, when their child comes down with something like constipation, their first reaction is to do what comes naturally -- call their parents for advice. While Grandma and Grandpa are always wonderful people to turn to, sometimes their advice on what worked for them way back when may not always be what the doctor would advise today. Remedies such as mineral oil, water enemas and suppositories should always be discussed with your child's doctor before they are used. If the doctor OKs the suggested treatment, thank your parents or friends for their loving advice.

First of all, you need to talk to your pediatrician. There could be a lot of problems going on...or this could be normal. Either way, getting advice online does not compare to a doctors care.
Secondly, how long has it been between bowel movements? It is possible that the child has underdeveloped digestive system. My daughter had the same problem and she was breastfed. I was told to give her baby pear juice, but it didnt help. She went a week without going poop, and the doctor finally had me buy infant suppositories. Those finally did the trick. Eventually her body worked itself out and she was going fine on her own. It is very possible for a child to wait a few days before pooping, so please please ask your doctor before you try either one of these things.
Good luck!

He's not supposed to go every day.
It is very common for exclusively breastfed babies of this age to NOT poop every day. They use up all their food very efficiently and there is very little waste. It is totally NORMAL for him to skip days.
Stop worrying unless he seems to be in pain/

My son had the same thing at that age when I called my pediatritician he informed me that babies do not have to have a bowel movement every day. My son goes every 2-3days. If it gets really bad like over 4-5days then try stimulating his rectum with a qtip. Or you can add a teaspoon on dark caro syrup to his bottle.

Sometimes babies dont go everyday. But a way to help is to take his legs in your hands and slowly bring his knees to his chest and back down. I do that to my daughter a few times when I notice she is constipiated. It works for her and the doctor said that it is fine to do.

Our son had the same problem, our doctor had us put warm soapy water up his but. We used one of the rubber nose sucking things. I worked like a charm. He pooped like crazy after only a minute.
PS have the dipper under the baby lol
