Frankfurt is a business city with a ton of Americans--not very "german" at all. Berlin is a wonderful city to visit, and a real experience...I agree, Berlin!

Berlin has more history to tell and is a big city. Frankfurt has a nice old part but can be discovered in one day. For Berlin you should plan at least 3 days or more.

Sorry about Frankfurt, where I lived for a while, but compared to Berlin it's a non starter. Another piece of cake if you mean the countryside, with such lovely places such as Seligenstadt, Amorbach, Michelstadt, and the whole Taunus.
If you have a limited time schedule, however, try Berlin first, its a great, swinging city, you'll love every minute.
Then try Hamburg, Munich and Cologne.
Sorry for the other towns, but these are my favourites.

Berlin is a lovely, interesting city, with a fascinating history and a lot to see and do. Frankfurt is a functional city. You fly in and out of there and do business there. I've been there dozens of times, but have yet to find anything more than that there.
