i have tried facebook and its a bit strange that everyone can read all your messages

set you privacy settings so that only you can see your wall... and whatever else you want to keep hidden. although I'm pretty sure that's why people like to go on facebook, they like for other people to see how "cool" they are because people write on their wall, tag them in pics etc etc.
