If you unplug your USB device and try plugging it into a different USB port, I think your USB device will work bec I experience something similar on my 2 newest DELL Notebook PCs, Latitude D620 and Inspiron E1505/6400.

I own 3 DELL Notebook PCs (3rd one is older Latitude D800) and what USB deficiencies? I have experienced on my 2 newer DELL Notebooks actually started when trying to print via USB to parallel cable since newer Notebook PCs did away with parallel port. Dell Technical Support wasn't able to help and fact I couldn't get 2 brand new BELKIN USB to parallel cables to work, I was glad and happy when Belkin Tech Support later sent me step by step instructions and info on how to setup and it worked whereas Dell folks were clueless and surprisng DELL Diagnostics on your Resource CD will not indicate any USB port problems.

Hope the Above Info Helps and Good Luck!

Most likely the USB bus is "confused"
Open device manager (Right click MY COMPUETR, select properties, then hardware, device manager
Locate the USB tree and delete ALL items (don't panic)
close down windows and let it start up.
It will "refind" all the USB stuff and refresh itself. Should now work fine when you plug in the USB key

Try accessing your flash drive in safe mode. The virus will not be running in safe mode.
