it depends. Ultimately its family, but some family members are cruel rude and just look out for themselves.
You can find a great friend that kind and genuine cares about your well being.... So i would say its up to the individual

Before I had a child I would've said friends. Because they felt more like family. We did everything together. But when I got pregnant, they all of a sudden acted like I had the plague. The phone stopped ringing, messages weren't answered. They didn't even care enough to come to my baby shower. At that point it really hit, that family is always there. Maybe not always by choice, but they are there. Friends are fickle and do only what they want, there are not ties that bind.

Well my kids and husband are more important to me than anyone else. But after them it depends I have friends that are more family to me then most of my family...To me love and life aren't about who is a friend and who is family. It's about who you love...you don't need a definition for that.

I will always say that it really depends on the family and the friends. For myself, it is and always will definitely be family. For some people I know, I would understand them saying friends.
