To actually have an understanding of how the public feel about things? Obviously ignoring the trolls and people like that who just answer for points or to cause arguments. I just feel that the vast majority of the needs of the country are being ignored by those, especially the PC Brigade. I can understand the methods behind their policies, but it's causing such bad feeling in the country on so many issues - it feels at times they do not have a proper touch on reality. As I'm ending university now, I have made friends with a lot of people who are going into politics and have had this discussion with them. Just wondering what you all thought??

So some people on this site who answer these sorts of questions seriously but don't elsewhere for whatever reason don't deserve to have their opinions heard?

Of course they should. We have far more sense than the politicians, and some of the suggestions on here are far more intelligent than the ones the MP's force on us.
Plus we all have a great sense of humour, which is sadly lacking in parliament.

Whether daft or otherwise, those in power would do well to take a snapshot view of many types of site, whether it be here on Yahoo Answers, the BBC's Have your say or any other well-used site. Discussion should not after all, end solely with those that have been handed the power. Naive as it sounds, they are public servants, not public dictators ... or at least this is the theory.

It seems there are people that, just like the current government, assume that the public are stupid. Assumption is the mother of all .... I'll be daft enough to guess even those stupid enough to assume know the blank word there. A politician is just another person after all, just another cog in the wheel, no assumption needs to be made of their intellect and common sense compared to those that voted them in.

Political leaders? sorry do you mean lead from the front or behind, well it is difficult to find a true leader when the one who is supposed to lead has usurped the position from his leader ,i.e blair . Remember the wheels turn slowly and grind exceedlingly small , BROWN remember whenyou stab someone in the back it will stab you. THE people of this country have not have the chance to decide their future as promised by YOUR govt , yes you have cheated the people and as such the eu? (what is that) treaty or what do you call it is a lie and NOT valid

I'm not sure if they'd learn very much from a place like this, simply because they'd have to trawl through so much crap before they found something that'd be of any interest. I'm also not sure that there is a 'vast majority' of needs that are ignored. although I agree that the PC brigade can go for a long walk off a short pier. And Governments also have to make decisions that won't be popular sometimes, but are good for the country on a longer term basis, what do we do then?

It would be nice to believe that politicians have our best interests at heart but that's not always the case. The reason I would object to politicians checking out forums such as YA, is there are far more people on this forum who support the current administration than those who support it in the real world. I wouldn't want politicians to think his/her constituents feel as positive about what's going on as some on YA believe.

sure, they are. And politicians have finished some thing comparable before: the domicile Committee on Assassinations reported that a conspiracy grew to become into in contact interior the assassination of John F. Kennedy. The committee based their findings on questionable scientific evidence (when you consider that refuted) and eye witness testimony offered fifteen years after the certainty. The committee did a terrible job of study and study, making their conclusions quite questionable. All creditable evidence factors to Lee Harvey Oswald performing by myself by using fact the murderer of JFK; modern study and scientific learn proves the factor. might you be satisfied if yet another study grew to become into carried out and it suggested that the U. S. government grew to become into in contact in a conspiracy to make the 9/11 assaults ensue? Then what might ensue if 20 years later, that study grew to become into shown to be incorrect by using fact the domicile Committee grew to become into? until you will detect some thing new, that has no longer be thoroughly debunked like distinctive 9/11 conspiracy theories have, you're beating a ineffective horse with this submit.

The publics feelings on politics is rather murky, firstly, half of them understand little of the process of good goverment, and many don,t care.Enoch Powell was the greatest politician and prime minister that we never had.He once said to me,you must vote for the local politician who will do most for you locally, never mind the political party. The meaning of this is evident to all but the thickest fools.I only met him once ,after writing him a letter--BIG RESPECT.He was the only one to stuff David Frost on tele.As for getting input off here,ho ho ho its christmas.

They could gain an insight into what the American people think about issues affecting the country, but I don't think they really care.

I do not think political leaders should pay attention to websites like this. Because its too pointless. Websites like this doesnt show anything and those people have much more important works to do.
