What will you call for next? Burning books you do not like!! This is a free speech site within the limits set out in the guide lines. Free speech is very valuable!! If a reply is really spiteful, hateful or hurtful then it would be in violation and should be reported. But having said that, there is far too much use of violation as a way of censorship on YA already. If you only want answers that agree with your view then don't ask them on YA. But consider - you can learn a lot about people, the subjects you ask questions about and a whole host of other things by thinking about where the people are coming from. Your question itself was good - then you did what you are complaining about yourself - became a bigot!!!!! Congratulations - you have been nominated as the first one for the zoo!!!!

people are spiteful-hateful-rude because they are not happy in their own lives...and feel the need to come on the internet (becasue some of them barely get noticed out in the REAL WORLD) and try make other peoples lives just as miserable as theirs...
or sometimes they are young kids..who get a kick out of getting people excited...

Because people can be whoever they want on the internet. They can also say whatever they want. They hold in emotions from the people they see on a day to day basis and then let it out on complete strangers over the internet.

Because deep down people are hurting - really hurting - and human nature is to lash out at others. Remember the Golden Rule, "Do Unto Others" It really works!

Because they're not brave enough to say it to your face.
I'm never rude to people on here - a bit of common courtesy never goes amiss.

Because people can get away with it anonymously on the internet. People on here also will report you for anything. I just got my first violation today for something ridiculous.

Because we don't have to think of those receiving our comments as real. This is only a game in cyber space after all.

Because they can be- they are cowards because they are anonyomous. Sometimes (but less so) people are trying to be witty or sarcastic, and their answers just come off as mean spirited and not at all witty- Just mean!
