The Dave Clark Five - Somewhat of an obscure choice that seems to have gotten the nod by virtue of riding the coattails of The Beatles.

The Ventures - Very worthy for Hawaii-Five-O theme alone, book 'em Danno.

John Mellencamp - Not a huge fan, but logic dictates he belongs.

Leonard Cohen - see above

Madonna - Another absolute perversion of what the RORHOF is supposed to be. Did I miss that day in Cleveland for the renaming ceremony? Is it now the R&P Hall of Fame? And if that's the case, perhaps we can start an onslaught of never ending stupid questions like "why can't we seperate the pop from the rock HOF?"

Rush, Yes and Jethro Tull can't get in, that's insane.

Damn, that's a very weak group. Influential bands like The Cure and Depeche Mode have not even been considered. The hall of fame better shape up quickly and get as many backlogged bands in the hall ASAP or it may be impossible for any big band to get in.

Metallica's a lock for next year (they were actually eligible this year, but the hall opted to pass since this would only be the 25th anniversary of the demo tapes, not Kill Em All.

It's indeed a ridiculously lame selection this year. Madonna has no business in a ROCK N ROLL Hall of Fame, I've never heard anything from the Ventures, I've never even heard of Dave Clark Five, and I didn't think Leonard Cohen was very well recognized.

The Dave Clark Five - not really too sure
The Ventures - most certainly
John Mellencamp - sure, why not?
Leonard Cohen - absolutely
Madonna - hell no (perahaps the pop hall of fame)

*of the other ones listed, I think Tom Waits would be a good inductee

Madonna is a pop artist.
It's not the Rock 'n' Roll & Pop hall of fame.

John Mellencamp isn't as deserving as other aristis.

Whatever though, the RnR HoF is nothing but a load of crap now, it lost any and all credibility long ago.
It's like an extesntion of Rolling Stone magazine.. it's so commercialized now that it has almost nothing to do with actual quality music anymore.

I think that John Mellencamp getting the nod is awesome. Leonard Cohen is also very cool.

I appreciated Madonna's earlier stuff, but I have become less and less of a fan as time has gone on. And since her music is a bit on the electronic and dance side of the spectrum...well, seeing her name is a bit like "which one of these things is not like the other?".

Madonna is anything BUT Rock!

I can think of several Rock bands / artists who *should* be recognised for their talents, but instead are ignored in favour of such nonsense.

Seriously, since when has Madonna EVER been rock? Isn't she like, the queen of Pop? I think that's the stupidest sh*t I've ever heard in my life.

I've been to the Hall of Fame and museum...it was a disappointment. And now that John Mellencamp is being inducted, it's even more disappointing.
