I live in the U.S., and it's more likely that fundamentalistic, extreme Christianity will become the state religion here.
And even if I "converted" to prevent the goon squads from torturing, killing, and imprisoning me, I would NEVER in my secret heart be a follower of any religion. They still can't get inside my head and control my thoughts.

GOP, party of fear.
That will never become the case, and Christianity will never become the "State religion" either.
Terrorists are criminals who need to be arrested and brought to justice. Having Osama bin Laden brought to the U.S. in chains and being put on trial for the whole world to see will be the ultimate victory in the "War on Terror." That should be the focus of the "War on Terror," not a vague, unfocused war that wants to focus on terrorists only where there is oil that Halliburton can get its hands on.

Because that won't happen (and no other religion would become the State religion of any part of the U.S.) neither you or I would have to worry about that.

in the USA, we have NEVER had a state religion, nor will we ever. Our constitution was carefully crafted by the founders to SEPARATE church and state. But if YOU need a state religion, you can always go to IRAN to live.
