Its fairly easy to see.

Their gods are pretty much the same, they just had different names.

The Romans borrowed in the form of government (though that god hijacked). They borrowed large amounts of art and culture.

The Roman Society was the later stages of the Greek Society. Actually, the culture is called The Hellenic Culture. At its beginning, it was centered in Greece. As it aged, it became the Romans. They have the same gods! What does that tell you? Greece began in the 6th century BC. Rome fell in the 4th century AD. That's 1000 YEARS. That is how long a culture lives. It's a type of plant, on another scale, in a higher dimension.

The greeks were considered the great society before the Romans and so they wanted to emulate them in every way. You can see a lot of similarities in architecture and politics, also in religion. LIke the Aenied was written to be the roman version of Homer's Illiad and Odyssey. They wanted to match and sometimes exceed the Greek's greatness and intelligence.
