Amadeus (1984 academy award winner) I like this movie because it portrays Mozart and his life. It is not really sad but it is a good movie.
For a really sad movie, I would say Pursuit of Hapiness with Will Smith. That was a good sad movie.

Love Story remains the quintessencial sad, cry-your-heart-out, cut-your-veins movie of all time. If you're of a latter generation, you might like Beaches (1986), starring Bette Midler. Happy crying!

Imitation of Life. It may be in black and white but it is a very good movie. It will have you crying for days.
