The treasury doesn't cover deficits by actually printing currency. Most of the country's money supply consists of checks and electronic records. You get a check, deposit it, and make online payments. No currency changes hands.

Republican's changed definition of money supply. So it is very difficult to know status of G5 ( guessing that's where old definition of paper money can be found. There is one strong indicator debt is being monetized. As the monopolies that run much of USA Economy aren't making triple digits return on coupon bonds that raise their prices even higher.
