No, the hospital probably won't do it, Generally its something your doctor does before the baby is discharged. That said, I'd reccomend leaving your baby as nature made him. Its a comestic procedure that can actually HURT his sexual sensation later in life. (The most sensitive parts of the penis are on the foreskin, by contrast, a circ'd males most sensitive part is ussually his scar) Whoever said it is a personal decision is right- its a personal decision that should be made by your son, because its HIS penis. And, for the record- intact babies are EASIER to clean than circed babys. The foreskin doesn't retract until much later in childhood, so all you have to do is wash the outside and leave it be- unlike a cut baby where you have to clean the wound and apply vaseline and make sure the skin is kept back. Do your pocketbook and your son a favor and leave his penis alone. -Neb

A lot of insurance companies and some hospitals don't perform unnecessary cosmetic surgery on newborns' genitals. If you wait then you save the money now and your son get the choice later on. Bargain!

Probably not. Circumcision is elective and unnecessary. It's like going in for a boob job and saying "well, I don't have the money. Send me the bill" There's a reason your insurance doesn't cover it. Smart company- stick with them.
If you don't have the money- all the reason not to do it :-)

you know, a lot of people go back and forth on this. I am betting that the reason the insurance won't cover it is because they don't think it is medically important. You can have a healthy son even if you don't have it done. Many people think the only reason doctors encourage it is because it is an easy 600$.
thats being said:
I really think the hospital would do it for you and bill however they bill things. It depends on the hospital you are using i am sure (you could always call and ask them directly) My understanding is that a lot of hospitals will have a nurse do it soon after birth if that option is chosen.
they must have a procedure in place for parents who don't know if the baby is a boy until it is born.

Save yourself $575, and save your son from a lot of pain and a life of reduced sexual pleasure, by NOT having his penis cut.

The hospital should not perform any COSMETIC procedure on the healthy, normal genitals of a newborn.
Did you know being born with a missing or partial foreskin is considered a BIRTH DEFECT? Now, why would you want to GIVE your son a BIRTH DEFECT on purpose?
Do you know ANYTHING about the procedure? http://www.mothersagainstcirc.org/plastibell.htm

Do you know what it takes away?

I think that paying $575 for a circumcision is really too expensive. Besides, as mentioned earlier, u could get it for free if u have connections with the Jewish community. However, do you honestly want to circumcise your baby?
Advantage: "It" looks better after the procedure.
Disadvantage: Circumcision de-sensitizes the tit, giving less pleasure during intercourse. Hope these could help u make a clearer decision. All the best for u and your baby!

Keep the baby intact. Save your money and give your son his choice when he is grown. A baby can't give consent. You don't own your son's body and you have no idea whether or not he would choose to be cut and skinned in this way.
Most of the world's men are intact as mother nature designed them. The foreskin protects the head of the penis much like an eyelid protects an eye. You don't cut off baby eyelids do you, of course not???!!

Before you start paying your doctor money, I'd specifically CALL your insurance and talk to someone about this. They may not cover it, but get that in writing. Some doctors try to rip people off and then simply bill the insurance.
Also, often the doctor does do the circumcision (mine did), so that's not that weird, but I don't remember the charge being that much. I think mine only charged the insurance roughly $150 for the procedure...
And don't listen to others telling you what you should or shouldn't do to your son. Circumcision is a personal decision that you have to make. Either choice is fine.

Depends on the Hospital. Some hospitals won't do circumcisions at all. Insurance companies won't cover it because it is unnecessary.
The best thing to do is just not do it. Circumcision is becoming less common:
