Certainly not for.

I expect that the EU was created to make the countries of Europe more competitive in economic terms. Other countries, including the US, can be either trade partners or competitors - apart from that, I don't think it was created either "for" or "against" the US.

European countries have lived in peace and cooperated with each other since the formation of the EU (or its predecessor organizations) in the 1950's - that was certainly not the case before that.

The Euro was developed for economic efficiency - to be franc about it, I am not a lire - mark my words.

The European Union came into being to solve the problems caused by previously having two world wars, both which began in Europe.

The Euro currency was almost certainly conceived in part with some intention to be the most dominant world currency.

The idea being, the economies of the EU countries (if the UK would stop fannying about) combined under one currency would have greater economic power than the US dollar, which would be a major benefit to all people living in the EU.

No, of course not.

It was originally established to unite Europe after two disasterous world wars. It has become over time a powerful world economic body, and consequently presents a trading challenge to the US.

But within ten years both the EU and the US will face the same challenge from China and India.

The entire goal is to have a single economic entity that can possibly challenge US economic power. It certainly is not a military alliance against the US, as many members are still allied WITH the US through NATO. Basically, the intent is to make Europe stronger economically than any of the individual countries would ever be.

I believe that it was designed to compete economically with the U.S., and I believe it has succeeded to some extent, because, what are we now attempting? The establishment of a "MexAmeraCan" economy, or some variation of Mexico, America and Canada to counter the euro. Another reason for not securing our borders?

We've been dominated by the U.S. far too long and the world to the dollar. I don't like being the 51st State and the sooner we are fully integrated into Europe under the correct terms the better for our economy.

yes this is a good question. i think you are right some on continental Europe want a united states of Europe to compete with the USA. i would also say they despise the relationship the UK has with America. and actively try to do all they can to interfere with it. they can think again as far as I'm concerned, its UK first and USA second, the EU don't even figure in my calculations.
