I love your questions. I believe that we are all students of the past..and we can all be masters of our future...Some have more tainted pasts than others. But as a wise man once said.."the deeeper sorrow carves itself into your being the greater the capacity for joy" To myself I hold this true...Sometimes you need to break the shackles of your past...But we are what our past has made us.

Either let it go or find a special and small place in your heart so that you can store the bad in the past away.
No one has lead an entirely charmed life. We've all had obstacles to overcome and some should be left in the past where they are. Carrying around anger and negativity only breeds negativity.
You'll always breathe much free without a bunch of skeletons holding you down!!!

No. I believe the past is like a torch that is lighting the way towards our future, let it go and you'll become blind as to who/what you can be.

I SO believe this!!!! My boyfriend needs to realize this too!! Sometimes I feel like he dwells on the mistakes that he has made or things that has happened to him in the past and it hurts him so it's hard for us to move forward with Our future! But we are working on it and I know things will be okay!

No,cuz we sometimes learn from the past or maybe learn from our mistakes to become a better person in the future,im not saying our past should haunt us down we should just learn from what we did from the past!

Absolutely not. Wordsworth describes the present (reality) as the body of a bird suspended on wings of the future and the past. TD

of course thinking of the past hold you back on to your way to the future. it's like you can go back in the days but you can look forward to the future. so forget about the pass and move on.

sounds like thats what my prob is. i come from a really poor childhood, in shelters and in terrible infested apts, just really awful places, and now i am soo much different and have tried to get as far away from that as possible, but at my jobs i feel inferior like everyone can tell im a piece of trash or that im a poor nothing. even though i know i am not, and i look like i have money, it still is in my mind because thats who i am and what i came from. i wish i could just have confidence in myself, it would make me soo much happier and make me move forward in life instead of just settling.....

it is true. The past should stay in the past, or else no one could move on with their lives, they would all be stuck in turmoil about what happened in the past and how they can deal with it.......so much stress..
