"This bill does not put poor children first, and it moves our country's health care system in the wrong direction," Bush's statement said. "Ultimately, our nation's goal should be to move children who have no health insurance to private coverage, not to move children who already have private health insurance to government coverage."

A handful of republicans and all the democrats isn't really bipartisan in my book...if it was truly bipartisan, they could override the veto.

The Dems send bills that they know will not be signed to gain political points with their sheeple constituency.

This is the first paragraph of that article. Note the word "BIPARTISAN". Why say Dems?

WASHINGTON — President Bush vetoed legislation Wednesday that would have expanded government-provided health insurance for children, his second slap-down of a bipartisan effort in Congress to dramatically increase funding for the popular program.

That last sentence makes me wonder if he understands the difference between the words "Private" and "Government".

"We" don't move anyone privately, because "We" are the government Mr. President. If you're going to move anyone, it's by an act of government, and therefore no longer private.

And where is that beautiful rationale you talked about? He decided to protect children by once again vetoing medical coverage for them? I'm really tired of my stupid President. Could we push the General Elections forward like they did the Primaries? Maybe Inauguration day too?

Simple.

The Democrats now have Bush on record for vetoing a health bill for poor children for a 2nd time and Republicans in Congress will be on record for a 2nd time, supporting that veto.

It will be a powerful tool in the election next year. I bet 2 or 3 more S-CHIP bills will be put on Bush's desk before the election next year.

What is congress supposed to do, only make policy that the president agrees with? If that's the case lets get rid of congress and just have a dictator/king. This isn't a partisan issue, it's an issue of common sense.
