I just got married 2 months ago, we're in the process of buying our first home, and I thought about having kids....

...then I went to the store and saw some little brat throwing a little hissy fit and hitting his mom....I'd backhand my kid in public if he ever did that. That rotton kid!

and I can actually go out and come home as late as I want, don't have to go to work simply to pay for childcare (which I wouldn't need if I wasn't working), and can run to the store without a car seat, diaper bag, and some snot nose kid begging for candy....Life is grand!

Some people are not reading the question correctly. The question is: Are you planning on NOT having kids....

Thanks for the clever one's who got it right.

I decided I didn't want kids when I was 15. I had a vasectomy at 21. My girlfriend had her tubes tied at 25. None of us had kids. I am now 41, and very happy with my choice.

My collage room-mate, and some of my friends did the same.

We have since joined a Child-Free club, and pretty much enjoy the good life. We have kept our youthful appearance, and have many stamps in out passports that we could not afford if we had kids. What more could we ask for?

I had my first when i was 25 years old and i said i am done!!! Then my happy accident came along feb of 2006...I am now done!!! Tubes tied and all!!! Don't get me wrong, I love my kids with all of my heart but it's work and you have to put them first which i have always done!! They are my life now and i would not want to have it any other way but as for a 3rd, no thanks!!! and my kids who are 22 months old and 9 yrs old know that if they scream for no reason, i will hit them and will have no problem doing it..I get so many people coming up to me in public saying how well behaved my children are. there is no need for screaming and consistency is key when raising kids!!

I'm 26 and don't want children. Too much of a hassle, especially if you're working all the time.

The way I see it, what's the point of having children anyway? Children are too much of a pain to me. Like you pointed out, you saw parents getting on to their children at a store. Too much work is involved with raising children while balancing a job.

I really would like to have kids, but due to circumstances beyond my control it's not likely I can. It's a shame really. Years ago, I thought of the names I selected for my first born son and my first born daughter.

No, I would love to have kids after I finish college, get a good job, get married, experience a little more of what life has to offer.

Too late for me...I have 6 now.

But, even with all the headaches that they can bring, there is sooooo much love that they give. It makes it well worth it. Don't give up on your thoughts of children. Ask yourself, "Do I want to do the dishes and take out the trash forever?".

No I have two great boys who I love so much. Yes sometimes my kids drive me crazy, but I wouldn't trade them in my life for anything.

Actually, yes. I used to want kids but for some reason...I've begun to think I'd be better without them. I don't think children are right for me. Don't get me wrong. I LOVE children...I just don't think I'm "mother-material."
