I am afraid whether that will put an adverse effect on him? But on the other hand my perception is that by knowing the story he may be aware about the consequences being bully.

Do you live in India? If not then why inform him of a shooting that took place there? First of all 6 is too young for a child to understand the concept of these types of actions, and you could end up causing mental issues for him for years ahead, why would you do that to your child? Is your son a bully at 6? If so you have many other things to teach him rather than giving him information about shootings happening at schools. Think about how you approach this subject, if you know it is wrong to bully others, then teach him that. If you are afraid he will be bullied, then teach him how to protect himself, he has plenty of years to figure out how nasty people can be when they are not taught about morals and the value of a person's life.

Our young children need to be protected from too much information, mostly violent news stories.
At 6 years old your son can learn enough about the ramifications of bullying from PBS's show "Arthur" and follow up conversations with you about the bullying behavior and how it makes other children feel.
I personally think that a six year old gets enough NEWS just by walking through the livingroom while you're watching World News Tonight!

No! You talk about bullying in a way a six year old can understand and be empowered and teach empathy!
Who do you tell if someone bullies you? What do you do if someone asks you for money? What do you think (name of kid he knows) feel when the other boys tease him? What can you say/do when you see a friend being bullied?
I want you to know I will always listen. I want you to know I want to see you happy and have friends and that you can always come to me if you need to talk.

No. At this age children do have enough understanding to put things in context or differentiate between things. For instance, were you to tell a six year old that cancer "grows," he may become afraid to swallow fruit seeds (such as watermelon seed) because plants "grow" from seeds.
If you believe your son is a bully, please post again describing your son's behavior and we will properly handle that issue.

No. Maybe you should teach your child how to protect their self if that situation occurs though. That would probably be better than scaring him. Just remember to make it fun or he lose interest. Repetition will kick it in automatically if the situation does happen.
