I use a mac G4 powerbook (the predecessor to the Macbook Pro). My humble laptop when I first bought it could run Simcity 4 without pulling a sweat. This program used to bring PCs to an almost screaming halt due to the graphics power required. I seriously doubt any Macbook pro will limit your gaming ability. Also even as my laptop ages, I can still run a lot programs that don't necessarily meet the minimum processor specs. This should hold true for the new Macs too.

The main thing you should do first is find the games you want to run now and see if they are even available under OS X (you would be surprised just how many are), or whether you need to run them under windows (using bootcamp). Check the hardware requirements and then see if that can be done on the Mac platform.

As a gaming platform you should realise that laptops pretty much suck - no matter if you use a Mac or a PC. You will will be restricted no matter what. A better gaming choice on the mac platform would be a Mac Pro where you can at least choose the graphics card you use. The Macbook Pro likely has plenty of graphics power, but like all laptops you will have some restrictions because of the need to conserve battery life and excess heat.

If you really want to be a gamer in a big way, then get a proper gaming rig, whether it be a cheap windows tower with all the mods, or a top line mac tower with all the flexibility of running games on any Operating System. If you just need the ability to play powerful games on a laptop occasionally, sure the MBP will certainly do the job. Best see one doing it face to face though in a real apple store to be sure you are getting what you are expecting.

Right then....
Mac would be able to play those games,,,, dual booting with Vista of course...
But that's ridiculous. Why buy a mac to put windows on it? Just buy a good Windows computer.

GTA is hardly what I call graphically demanding.
I played GTA3, with 512mb RAM, while running VISTA! and using 64mb of shared video ram... No lag...
Empire Earth 3 is relatively demanding..

Mac's can handle graphically demanding, intensive situations - They're made for visual arts.

However, what you have to keep in mind is whether or not the game has a Mac version out...

Also, bear in mind the syst req for Crysis are extremely demanding. Few computers can run it at lowest settings properly. Crysis is made for gaming rigs.

i doubt it unless graphics card like the NVidia series 7 or 8 can be installed into Macs . But i'm not sure because macs may have decent build in graphics cards that might just be able to handle the graphics. you should check the specs of the build in graphics card
