one time, the secretary at work was talking to her mother on the phone. her mother's lights were about to be cut off because she couldnt pay the bill. So they were trying to figure out how to help her mother until they could come up with the money. I overheard that they needed $250 to keep the lights on, so I put the money in an envelope with her name on it when she was at lunch.
That was pretty cool.

Sent anonymous flowers and they have absolutely NO idea who they were from!
Also sent someone some money...in an envelope no note no trade mark....just simple....and feel so good about it afterwards when that person shared with a group of friends how she needed some money to pay a bill and the day that was her last chance to pay she recieved some anonymous money. I had no idea either that she was in finacial difficulty.
Also gave up my job and moved abroad living in a poverty area doing what I could for a year. Little did I know the day before I was due to come home the Tsunami hit and flattened so many homes of the people I was helping. Its made me thankful for those around me and for the things I have.

I met an elderly lady on the bus. We got off at the same stop, and walked a while. She told me she had lived abroad for decades, moved back and all her friends and family were dead or abroad. She was depressed and told me she thought of committing suicide. Since I battle a long-time suicidal depression as well, I told her I didn't have the resources to help her personally, and asked if she had a helpline number. She had no idea there were any, and I helped her put three numbers on her cell phone. She had tears in her eyes when she thanked me, and so did I.
This was six months ago. I still see her doing shopping and such, and I'm so glad she's still alive.

Near work, I found a wallet with about $200 in it. There was no ID, no credit cards, just some family photos with adults, children, dogs.
Inside I found a business card to a retirement home in the area of my office, so I called the number. It just so happens the elderly woman who lost the wallet was standing in the adminstrator's office. It turns out this money was to be used for Christmas gifts for her grandchildren.
It made for a nice Christmas for me as well.

One time I was sick and went to the doctor. I was really sick! I was the first one there when it opened, first to sign in and when the doctor arrived I would be the first one in. I felt horrible!
Then a guy came in with his little boy a few minutes later. His little boy looked miserable. When the nurse called my name, I told her to take the little boy first. When the man took his son in to see the doctor, he turned around and whispered, "Thank you" to me.
I still felt very sick, but somehow I felt better all at the same time.
(To the fellow that suggested you would lose all merit for telling about your act of kindness, I would normally agree, but in this case I disagree. Maybe if people were to read about and do just one kind thing in their life maybe the world would be a better place.. Just my two cents!)

It became basically approximately 6 dollars, substitute risk-free, yet I allow you to be attentive to what I felt good, I referred to as my female buddy and apologized, and went directly to have a great day. Kindness is that is very own advantages.

I think it was in a market a few years ago, an elderly couple were drinking tea when the man started feeling a bit dizzy with the heat, my hubby brought the car round and we took the elderly couple home which was 10 miles out of our way but we couldn't see them struggling at their age.

I gave some poor soul on a scooter my ski gloves in the cold of winter, because he kept stopping and warming his hands off the exhaust. I was in a car, and could buy more gloves. He seemed thankful.
The only other one, I gave some lady $20 for her and her kids to get ice cream on a HOT summer day. She was getting an oil change on a van where I worked, and it was full of clothes and phone books, a mess. I thought they were living out of it, so I gave her cash and she was offended...What a hag!
Never again...

ok so i was with a group of my mates and obviously social society matters whn ur young so anyway we were going out for lunch and there was this senior man in a wheelchair who had no legs and he was rolling at a slow slow speed so i just went up to him and asked him where he was trying to get to cuz he wz on his own and he wanted to get to the pub. So as i was pushing him, a few guys were watching me help this guy on a wheel chair and some of my friends walked on the opposite side of the road (just so they dont get seen with me..i.e. not to get embarrased by the boys) only one of my friends stuck with me but that was when she saw what sort of hype it would cause but in the end i got to the pub at the end of the road and these boys all gave high fives to me and they were like 'well done' (I know them)
and they have since then stopped talking to those girls who abandoned me on my own.
oh well, goes to show what you can achieve when you want.
oh and yes i felt like i did something worthwile
thank you for asking this question i haven't thought about this event since!
