Steve is alive. He opted out of the TV agreement.

He did NOT die! He just was ready to move on to "pursue" a musical career. I agree, Joe Sucks and I think it was one of the reasons the show finally was cancelled. it lives on in videos and DVD's. I know this for a fact because my 2 year old granddaughter LOVES it and we watch 2-6 videos a DAY!!! She likes Steve better than Joe.

And Steve Burns (and the Struggle) are working on a CD to come out in 2008.

In the show, he left because he went to college. He did not die/commit suicide in real life. He probably just grew out if it. He was a grown man starring in a Nick Jr. television show that didn't feature other people. How long could someone really last? Imagine trying to get dates that way, lol. I give him credit for lasting as long as he did.

I tell you the truth.

He wanted to become a serious musician..almost in the punk/alt genre.

I saw him opening for a local band in Portland, Oregon and he hung out with the small crowd after his performance and that is what he says.

After hearing him, I'm thinking that Blue's Clues would have been a better gig for him!

:)

BTW: as of Summer 2007 he was alive and well and he didn't appear to be under the influence of cocaine. Vicious rumors!

He's not dead as reported. He's an indie rocker with "The Struggle" and decided that, while the 6 years with BC were great, he wanted a greater variety of roles.

He didn't die, check it out at snopes.com. Why did he leave? It's Blue's Clues, the real question is Why did it take him so long to leave?

i heard an interview where he was tired of being steve. he found it creepy that moms would send him fan mail and marriage proposals and such, bc they thought that his character was really what he was like in real life! maybe he fancies himself a real actor and didn't want to be typecast.
