Start focusing on the good things about you. The only thing you've mentioned here is that you're overweight. Don't let that define you. What are your interests? You'll be way less shy if you have something really interesting to contribute to a conversation. and focusing on the positives will most certainly help your self esteem

I was always a fairly shy person, too, but I've seemed to grow out of it with age. I think what helped was taking risks, ie., making yourself talk to people you normally wouldn't, going places alone, taking on hobbies that may make you feel like a success, and doing good things for others. And maybe get a job working with the public so that you'll become accustomed to speaking to strangers, even though it's part of your job. I think if you take the focus off you and your perceived shortcomings, you'll naturally start to feel better about yourself and more comfortable talking with others. Good luck!

Push yourself!! Start slow. Dont go to places where you will be put on the spot. And go with friends!! Get a good haircut, some nice clothes that make you feel good (its worth the money for one great outfit if it makes you feel awesome) and get out there!!
And lastly, try losing some weight, youll feel better about yourself and gain more self confidence which will help TONS!!
Good Luck

Be yourself, but be polite, try to work out but don't skip meals (it'll just add weight), DON'T say anything stupid
stare her in the eyes and not the boobs
take care of yourself, finger nails,teeth,skin......
DON'T touch ur face continually......especially nose...
get a good hair cut, something that says "I'm formal, neat any chick wants a piece of this?" and last but not least be calm, relax and don't forget to ask for her email address or phone number.
ps: move out of ur moms house if ur over 20.

No body can help you, or at least no one on the internet. You just gotta look at yourself and say I kick @$$. As for meeting new people just talk to somebody. Make small talk. Remember not everyone will be your friend but somebody will.

i just recently gained weight. it stopped my social life. you have to realize that you cannot stop life because of your appearance. work out.....get out. just live. weight will come and go. write down a list of all the things you like about yourself. if you cant think of any, make some.

Most people like to talk about themselves. If you ask them questions about their hobbies, vacation plans, whatever, they will think you are quite interesting.
