Let's leave out stuff by the big bands like The Beatles, Stones or The Who, etc. The classic rockers are in a separate class here.

I'm talking acts that put out a few singles or one-hits of the era.

Maybe you heard your parents singing or playing them around the house (like me), or you saw a movie & liked the music...no matter.

What I like about that whole period is the innocence. So many genuinely sweet & naive (in the good way) songs that still strike a chord today somehow. Back when holding hands was worth writing a hit over. Though the world wasn't *perfect* back then, many of the songs still sounded so ...happy :)

Remember now- nothing into the 70s or later...

Some O' mine. Wonder if any of these are on Youtube:

"5 O' Clock World"- The Vogues
"Green Onions"- Booker T & The MGs
"Runaway"- Del Shannon (one of the 1st pop songs to use an early synthesizer. Great little tune!)

"The Rain, The Park, * Other Things"- The Cowsills
-a bunch of Monkees songs

con't...

"Little Darling"- The Diamonds (I Love the funny- "AH HOO AHOO AHOO AHOO!")

"I'd Like to Get to Know You"- Spanky & Our Gang (This tune has "the 60s" written all Over it. It's so pretty!)

postal p- nice words. :)

mrbernstein- Pretty cool, obscure 60s stuff there! Thx! Aren't Can a 70s band though? & that Move song is early 70s. (I liked it though!) I gotta hear more of them. It's amazing they didn't make it in the US. Everything I've heard by them sounded great.

Sook'- Aren't those great songs?!

James M- The In Crowd & those Paul Revere tunes are fantastic! I love that deep bass on 'Hungry'

Wolf- DAMN! That is one extensive list! If you own all those, it puts my 50s/60s collection to shame. I wanna get more now!

captPeggy - What a charming vid! Those guys perfectly fit what I described above.

Mr.Anger- We crossover a lot, it seems! I was lucky enough to see Dion a couple of years ago.
Few ppl know Randy Scouse Git. Great song.

mrbernst'- aha. ok. ;)

I also love "96 Tears" by ? & the Mysterians. What a totally strange band they were...

You put definitely at least two I was going to list.

I love 5 O'Clock World and Little Darlin. Also, I'm not positive who does it (just have it on a comp) but Get A Job is awesome (I'm a big fan of the barritone line in that song).
Runaround Sue

if we're talking Monkees too there are a few notables that I really enjoy
Last Train to Clarksville
Randy Scouse Git
Circle Sky
Tomorrows Gonna Be Another Day
Pleasant Valley Sunday

the Zombies - Time of the Season and California Dreamin

*****************
I just got Can - Delay recently. Really great record.
