For steriod abuse in MLB?
THe Players, The Media,or The Commissioner???

About the Commish...as head of the MLB he did not add illegal steriods to the list of banned substances in baseball until the mid 00's even though the NFL and NBA did!!!

Many players were taking substances that they didn't even know were illegal.

I blame the comissioner Allen H. Selig. The Comissioner is chosen by the owners...they put that person in charge to oversee the league and it's operations. I don't think you can blame the players for participating in an act that was NOT illegal at the time. If you could use a performing enhancing substance to be better at your job or perform better in your career, you would too. Bud Selig sat back and allowed this pollution in the league at a time when all of the most sacred records in baseball were at stake. He let this happen. He is to blame for this.

Players are responsible for their own actions - to say that they need to take steroids to be able to compete for a job in baseball is a cop out. The Commish is also to blame for looking the other way because Home runs made the game popular again.

I think it's pretty obviously the players. The commissioner didn't tell them to take steroids, and the media don't deserve any blame. The players all have free will, and their choice was to use steroids. Given that, it seems pretty clear where the responsibility should be.

It has to be the owners that should take the majority of the blame. The owners didn't care if the players were juiced because the home runs brought the fans back to the ball park after the strike.

Let me ask you a question. If I drove my car through a traffic stop sign would it be the town's fault for putting it there, the fault of the actual person who placed the sign in the ground, or would it be my fault? Answer this question correctly and you will know my feelings on the issue.

I blame the owners first. They knew what was happening and they did nothing to stop it because the long ball replenished their wallets. Then I blame the players for cheating, plain and simple...they cheated.

I can't really blame the commish, because I think EVERYONE knew so if he made an issue of it he would prob. get canned.

How in the world can you blame Selig? Let's get real. You can only blame the players. Nobody forced them to inject themselves. They were convinced enough that if they didn't take the steroids, they wouldn't produce like they wanted to. You can't be forced to cheat, it's a personal choice.
