I know they were big with the younger crowd in the 80's and 90's, but what about now? I have some teenagers to buy gifts for. Has the SWATCH gone the way of the Members Only jacket? I don't want to get uncool gifts...

Popularity

Swatches enjoyed their peak popularity in the United States and elsewhere during the mid-1980s. Such 80s fads included wearing two Swatches and using a Swatch as a ponytail band. Some models, like Pop Swatch, allowed wearers to attach Swatches directly to clothing. During this same time, Swatch introduced the idea of partnering with noted artists, including Keith Haring and others. Artist watches gave a new cachet to what had previously been a trendy youth article.

I've never seen a teenager at my school have one. I have a few ideas, though. For girls, you need to avoid clothes and shoes as much as possible. If youre willing to go in a "girly" store such as bath and body works, you could get them a few inexpensive bar soaps and put them in a pretty basket. You can actually even these pre-made at other places. When it comes to gift cards, most girls like american eagle, aerie, forever21, bath and body works, hollister, abercrombie. but it all depends on the girl, and her preferences. a few inexpensive jewlry purchases will work. careful though, you might want to take a woman to help..i reccomend going to any of the stores i mentioned.

im not much of a help for guys. i still need to figure out what to buy my boyfriend. usually giftcards to video game stores work haha.

ik that was probably to much info.. but i dont think that swatches are "in" any more.. sorry !

hope i helped :]

Swatches are a thing of the past. I rarely see one on a teenager nowadays.

Do they still make them? I used to collect them. No... no swatches. Would be a bad idea.

For young ppl, right now they're using cell phone instead of watches. That's my opinion. At least, it's the situation right here in canada.

They are still in...I just visited one in the airport this past weekend; they have one called Skin (I think) which was very slim and stylish. I'd love to have one, but I am a watch fanatic.
