Okay so I am about a week late on my cycle and only had spotting last month....I went to the hospital last night because I had some stomach cramps, first off they could not tell even tell me what was causing the cramps then I told them twice that I have never missed a cycle....well they took a urine sample and it came back negative but I know that if you are preggers it does not always show up in your urine so should I have some blood work done or trust that the urine test was correct? This is so fustrating...does anyone know what else could cause you to not have a cycle besides for (anorexia, obesity, stress, or PID)???? Please HELP!!!

It's possible that you may be pregnant and just too early for the test to show, but if you are a week late, it should have shown. Wait a few days, and try to relax. If you still don't start, take another test and see your doctor. There are alot of things that could cause you to be late, all of which would require you to see a doctor.

Of course the hospital could be wrong. After all, doctors and nurses are human. I would suggest that you maybe take a home test, even though the hospital ones are better, and even see your regular practictioner for a blood test, as I've heard that those are more reliable. When I went in for my pregnancy test both urine and blood was taken.

As for regularity, I was never. I thoguht trying to conceive would be interesting, as for me, "regular" was every other month at best. Most of last year I was underweight and had maybe three periods. After my last one, my husband decided to do the trying on what he thought was the day I ovulated. He says that's what did it. I say maybe, but God wanted us to have a baby and that's what did it. Anyway, I just lost my train of thought, when I wiped off my glasses.

I hope I've been of some help.

they could be wrong. They told my mother a few times that she wasn't pregnant, & she was sure she was. She was right, and I had a little sister some months later.
I know stress, weight extremes (if you're too skinny or are an athelete can affect your cycle as much as obesity), etc can cause problems, but in my experience it didn't delay or cancel 2 months worth.
Go to an OB-GYN & explain the situation. Tell her/him if you're under stress, and any other problems like the ones you list. Especially if you have any pain. An OB-GYN is better prepared for these things than an ER, to be sure.
I wish you luck.

if you are late the test is probably right. Only a doctor could tell you what the real cause is, though.

Hospitals are usually pretty good with detetcing pregnancy... so they are most likely right. But definately do a blood test as well if you are worried. They are notoriously more accurate

Sometimes they get a negative when you are really positive. Did you ask them about ovarian cysts? They can cause a delayed period and pain.
