Easiest sport? Poker, "competitive" eating and puking, dominoes, darts, etc. If ESPN shows it, it must be a sport, right?

OK I'm just gonna paste my answer from the other question onto this one, but I'll add a little.
I think hockey is the toughest hands down. For six extremely simple, yet often overlooked reasons:
1. You play hockey on rock-hard ice, not soft grass, if you get hit and fall down; that's twice the damage.
2. You play hockey with a weapon; a stick. You can get slashed and hooked, and it hurts--a lot.
3. Hockey is played with a hard rubber puck that flies at up to 110 mph. Hockey players block shots all the time, it really hurts a lot to get up from being struck by a puck going 100 mph. I'm not even mentioning how crazy the goalies are.
4. In hockey there are boards and glass. Players can get checked face first into the boards and break several bones in their face. In football, you can get hit, but once again you just fly out onto the soft grass. AND there are full facemasks in football, it is not so in hockey.
5. There 82 games in a hockey season, there are only 16 in a football season.
6. There is actual fighting in hockey. Yes, it is legal to punch people. Not so in football.
Let me add that in football, players don't suffer facial lacerations, but if they did, they would probably miss the remainder of the game. In hockey players suffer facial lacerations all the time. You go to the bench, get stitched up, and you're right back on the ice, never missing a shift.
The easiest sports: NASCAR and poker. I don't really consider them sports though.....oh well, tell that to ESPN.

I think hockey is definitely one of the tougher sports to pick up, because it's one of the very few where you have to learn a difficult skill (skating) before you can even play the game.
Anyone can pick up a basketball or football, or swing a ball at a bat, without any formal training. Trying to skate out on the ice to play hockey without learning to skate, though, is impossible. That doesn't mean it's easier to excel at the others, but they're definitely easier to learn.

What a coincidence...Dennis Miller just had this on his "sports show" the other night. He had an ultimate fighter, Bill Romanowski, Jeremy Roenick and George Foreman?? I dunno, all boxers look alike to me. As far as pure skill and intelligence, hockey is right up there (you can't tell me that chasing a 1" by 3" rubber disk on ice with a stick on two 1/8" pieces of steel AND do the thing these guys do doesn't require some skill and intelligence). A close second is Lacrosse for skill etc.
Least amount of skill etc. NASCAR...yeah make left hand turns all day...

I don't think there are any sports that are easy to excel in. To excel takes a lot of time, energy and effort. For example a fairly easy game to play is ping pong. There are very few people who could get to the Olympics however. Also sports like bike racing and running are fairly easy to do, but very difficult to excel at.

Having skated my whole life I don't see that skating could make hockey more difficult than other team sports but I could see the difficulty if you can't skate. But for real difficulty try playing Water Polo and not being able to swim. The results could be disastrous.

Hockey, football, basketball, lacrosse, UFC, soccer...those are all tough sports. Poker, golf, baseball, and NASCAR are NOT sports; they're very difficult activities. Hell, NASCAR isn't even a game.
Forgot to add rugby as a tough sport.

Golf. How many sports can you think of where John Daley would excel, cigarette hanging out of his mouth, and all.
I had a heart attack a few years ago and was golfing shortly afterwards, but they won't let me play hockey, yet.

I agree with Laying Low about the easiest. As for hardest competitive Martial Arts you have to have strength, balance, speed and flexibility.

I'm thinking of toughest being endurance sled dog racing (Yukon quest, Iditarod ) its one of those things if you never been around it, you would never understand. easiest for anyone to just pick up and do basketball. need hoop and ball, well and a friend makes it more interesting. notice i said do not be competitive.
