Loath is a pretty strong word, I would not say that I loath it but I do not love it either. It irritates me how commercialized the season has become. People are not grateful but rather are pissed they did not get exactly what they wanted. Stores are a nightmare. I try to avoid them at all cost. The problem is when you need something you have to wade through a mob of people some of whom are irritated (men) about being drug around by their significant other. Others are pissed because they cannot find what they want. While still others are pissed for who knows why. Then when you look at how the world has become so politically correct it is enough to make you want to gag. Why some take offense to calling it Christmas and want it to be referred to Holiday is beyond me. Who cares what it is called. The main thing that I like about the Christmas holiday is getting some additional time off of work. I will probably spend the “Holiday” on the slopes or on a machine.

I can't stand it! It's just an excuse for people to get bladdered and waste loads of money on plastic crap that they don't really need.
Statistics show that more people are likely to break up with each other over the Christmas period, domestic violence is higher than at any other time of year, people are more likely to commit suicide at Christmas, and more people get killed in drink-driving accidents at Christmas time too.
And they call it the most wonderful time of the year?
It's a horrible and depressing time of year for a lot of people who are lonely or poor.
And it's a time for greed and over-indulgence for the majority of people.

Most years, I adore it. But this year I'm just not feeling the love. It SUCKS that I feel this way, and I feel like a Scrooge, but I think I know why. We're going to be on a tropical island for Christmas, and I've never gotten used to the fact that we're not going to be home, we're not going to have a white Christmas... =(

Love Christmas - family, friends, decorations, great food, pressies.
Loathe the shopping, countless cd and dvd adverts on tv, the wrapping and the writing of cards.

I like the idea of celebrating the birth of the Savior but the the conspicuous consumerism thing with the gift-giving and spending time with obnoxious family members makes my skin crawl...

With not ONE doubt, I love it for Its' Spirit, every year resurrected! The presents don't matter to me. The family being together in a very (clear to notice) state of charm, does Wonders to my heart, Pix!
