I have used AVG Anti Virus, Zone Alarm Firewall, Spy-bot Search and Destroy and Ad Aware both spyware killers for years. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans etc. AVG does not slow the system down as much as some other products and Zone Alarm allows a lot of personal configuration unlike the Windows Firewall. They can all be downloaded from the following link. http://www.computeractive.co.uk/... On the home page select downloads and then the appropriate category.I also use Windows Defender from the Microsoft site. It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly. Hope this helps

Try a different spyware program. There are several free ones on the web. Download one or two of them and have them do a scan and see if they can remove the culprets. I will do a quick check for you, hold on:
http://www.download.com/3120-20_4-0.html?tg=dl-20&qt=Spyware%20programs&tag=srch
You can use multiple spyware programs without worry of conflict like you need to be with firewalls and anti-virus applications. You can only have one firewall and anti-virus program installed at a time or you have all types of issues of compatibility and conflicts, such as system instability and even crashes. So, don't worry about spyware programs being on the list of the programs you can only have one of.
Try out Spybot, and Ad-Aware, I have heard good things about these. I use a full Internet Security Suite and get the next one put out each year, Panda, but not everyone can afford, or choose to use paid for versions. My suite has a terrific spyware applet and I never get spyware or malicious cookies, or any other malware.
If this doesn't work, you may need to join a forum where experts help out inexperianced users for free. They are all vollunteers and are usually very nice. One I like very much has a chat-room where you can actually have an expert remote into your system and fix it for you! I trust the group very much and am a member there. Here is the link:
http://groups.msn.com/FreewareandShareware/welcome.msnw
It is an MSN group, and you do have to join but it is free. You will also need to sign up for the chat room if you decide to go that route. I am very impressed with this group.
Good luck and have a great day.

Computers don't normally tell you that they have spyware. The whole point of spyware is that it works silently without your knowledge. What you're actually seeing is an advert for a spyware remover, or possibly a link to a dangerous web site that will actually INSTALL spyware on your computer.
Download and install and run one of the free spyware removal programs. Spybot, from Safer Networking, is good. As is AdAware, from Lavasoft.

The best way to do this is to restart your computer and hit the F8 button when it restarts. It should give you a option to go in to safe mode. Go into safe mode and run your anti spy-ware and anti virus. This should fix your problem.
Great Question and Good Luck!
