^^^They debuted in 1983. That's pretty long.
I agree with you. They also won the NWA tag team titles.

There's some degree of truth to what Mr. C said, but I'd still regail the Warriors over Steiner Brothers. The Road Warriors set a trend in wrestling, one that resulted in the creation of two icons, Sting and the Ultimate Warrior, and yes, Demolition (Whom were rip-offs, but they weren't the only ones. There are countless Warrior rip-offs throughout the independents back in the day). I consider a good tag team to be a long-standing over tag team that can put on a good match together. I consider the New Age Outlaws a good tag team, I consider the Road Warriors a good tag team, but I don't really consider the Steiners tag team specialists simply because they could've done without being in a tag team. As a matter of fact, Scott had more success in singles competition than he did with the Dog Faced Gremlin tagging along. The Road Warriors were an entity, an unseperatable force that couldn't exist without one member or the other (Animal's single's push is a great example of that). They were tag team specialists, as were the Free Birds, the Rock n' Roll Express, and I'll even throw the Dudley Boys in that lump.
I don't know, to me there's a difference between what I consider a "Jannetty throw-away tag team," (where one member could coexist without his partner and be successful) a Dream Team (Something like Sabu and RVD, or Edge and Christian, where two men really don't have to be together to be successful) and a Specialists tag team (Where the tag team is an entity within itself, and neither partner can really succeed without the other, Like LOD, 3D, Freebirds or the NAO's). It's just a different measuring stick, but LOD were tag team specialists, and the best there ever was.

I think Road Warriors and Steiner Bros. would be neck and neck at the top. The have been successful in many different areas (WWE, WCW, Japan, AWA, etc. . . ) They had some amazing matches against each other as well. I think teams like Demolition, Rockers, Hart Foundations, lag a little behind because they were basically WWF (at the time) creations. Although Rockers started in AWA i believe.

They changed the face of professional wrestling after they debuted. In the DVD that WWE release they mentioned that when they were in WCW there was a talent exchange with IWGP and they were the only Americans that were allowed to change in the Japanese locker room, because of how much they were respected by the Japanese people. Even when Hawk made the Japanese version with Kensuke Sasaki known as the Hell Raisers was great and they captured the IWGP tag belts. Unfortunately they did not capture the WCW titles, they claim that Eric promised them a title run and it never happened. So in the duration of there being an incarnation of the Road Warriors they had AWA, NWA, WWE, and IWGP tag belts.

From the time I first watched them in WCW (World Championship Wrestling in Georgia) for NWA (Jim Crockett, not Ted Turner), they were so over even before their first match! The dominant tag teams back then were the Brisco Brothers, Ric Flair & Ricky Steamboat, Dusty Rhodes & Dick Murdoch, Arn & Ole Anderson (Four Horseman precursor) and Windham & Rotondo, but they could not handle the onslaught.

What about the Steiner Brothers:
NWA, WCW, IWGP (New Japan), WWF Tag team champions.
They were considerably better technical wrestlers than the Warriors (in my opinion). The only problem was that they didn't really get over with the fans in the same way.

I am a big fan of Demolition. I know that a lot of people think that they were a rip off of the road warriors but I don't think that they got their gimmick from them. I believe it was KISS that gave Demolition the inspiration for their character. Demolition held the WWE tag titles for longer than any tag in WWE history including the Road Warriors. They were dominating against some of the best competiton in that division ever. Teams like the Rockers, Hart Foundation etc. all could not beat them during their run. They were an unstoppable force in their prime.

The Road Warriors are definitly the Coolest team of all time BUT,the greatest of all time is The Dudley Boys(D-von and Bubba) because in the history, they have the only finish that actually takes both guys,in motion,to execute.Everybody else it's one guy hold one guy hits.Doomsday Device,Hart Attack.etc.Guys now are trying to really dig deep to come up with something that takes both of them to do.But theres only one 3-D.
