I tell you what.
Why don't you give us your opinion on it. Why don't you ask yourself the very same question?

Why don't you start it off with, why shouldn't all Americana's be treated the same?? Why should Gay people be denied the same rights as their Heterosexual neighbors??
What possible difference could it make in the lives of Heterosexual, closed minded, bigoted people to allow Gay folks to marry the one they love and live the all American Dream? I'll tell what difference... NONE AT ALL!!
Just like it does not make a difference in my life that straight people are allowed to marry.
I think absolutely everyone should have the right to be miserably married.

There aren't a whole lot of facts and percentages contributing to the debate.

Facts:
1) Homosexuals exist. Somewhere between 2% and 10% of every population is homosexual or bisexual.
2) Marriage exists. It has historically been between a man and woman. Marriage of two men or two women has almost never been recognized before modern times.
3) Heterosexuals are often uncomfortable with the idea or nature of homosexuality. It just SEEMS not right.
4) Religion has long reigned over the institution of marriage, even though people of any or no religion still marry.
5) Benefits in terms of taxes and healthcare are offered to couples who are married.
6) Politically conservative people are much less likely to accept a change that would give rights to homosexuals.

A number of arguments arise against homosexual marriage. People seem to think that "accepting" homosexuality enables it, and makes it more likely that a greater and greater proportion of people will become gay. There is no evidence to suggest this whatsoever.

A number of arguments arise in support of gay marriage. The most cogent is that homosexuality is simply more accepted in modern society, and there is reason to believe that allowing two people who are not familially related and are adults and who love each other to marry will not cause harm to others. If anything, it would allow homosexuals to feel confident in building real relationships and avoid the sexual promiscuity that has been attached to their reputation.

Marriage is essentially a religious institution that is sanctioned by the state. Since plenty of religious groups do in fact perform same sex unions, for the state not to sanction those unions is in fact a violation of the separation of church and state and sets up only those religious groups against same sex unions as defacto state religions in clear violation of the Constitution........

the only arugments are against it are religious, or they use natural law arguments (that are at their base religious).
