I just bought a 2006 Pontiac G6 V6 a4 months ago. After about 2 months something happened. It says "engine power reduced" where my raido is and all of a sudden, while I'm driving, my car starts slowing down. I can be goin 65 on the highway and it will reduce to like 40mph! and if I am goin up a hill, sometimes I can't make it. I have to pull over and cut my car off and wait a while. One NIGHT I had to pull over 5 times before i got home. I've taken it to the shop 4 times (3 diff.places) and spent a lot of money. I just got it out today and it's doing it again. Someone may hit me from behind one day. Can someone help me???

ALSO: this is what I've had done to it: 1. Capital Cheverolet - run pin drag test on all wire terminal ends for app and throttle position actuator, close term inal ends up, cleaned throttle housing and cleared code. 2. Another Cadi.-Poniac-Buick-GMC, INC - cleaned and tightened all engine grounds and ubec connectors, 3. replaced battery. 4. Another Chevy,-Buic-Poniac dealer-- replaced tps sensor. So, as you see I've been to 3 diff. dealer for my car. I'll check out the filter tho. If I have any money left. Do you think a Fuel System Tune Up will help???

My first guess is that you have a problem with fuel flow. You may have clogged fuel injectors, or some water in the fuel. As it sounds like the problem is worse depending on your angle on a hill, and will subside if you shut the car off for a while, I lean toward water. A new fuel filter would be a start to correcting that.
It could also be the computer chip that replaces the carburetor gets too hot and malfunctions.
Take it to a Pontiac dealer (as in DEALER, not some shadetree mechanic that can recognize the Pontiac logo at a distance) and have it hooked up to their diagnostic equipment. They'll give you a definite answer, rather than guesses.

If you have an Autozone in your town, take it there. They will connect a diagnostic device to your car that reads the computer diagnostics, the failure codes stored there should help in Identifying the problem. You may have a Transmission overheating, fuel flow problem, or a number of other possibilities. If this doesn't work then you should go to a reputable GM or Pontiac dealer with a service department.

you need to take it to a pontiac *dealer* not just a regular garage.
also do a search on google, it maybe a common problem with that type of car, and will give u a heads up on what the problem is
it sounds electircal, or info is not getting to the computer.
good luck

It means you have something technically wrong with the engine, gearbox, suspension or fueling (however much the American ECU covers..) Your car is running on a 'safe mode' and would need to be taken back to your dealer as previously stated.

COULD BE JUST A BAD FUEL FILTER.
I WOULD RECOMMEND THAT YOU GET YOUR VEHICLES COMPUTER SCANNED TO FIND OUT JUST WHAT THE PROBLEM IS FIRST SO THEN YOU WILL HAVE SOME IDEA WHAT IS WRONG AS WELL AS WHAT TO EXPECT.
TRY FINDING AN INDEPENDENT AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR SHOP INSTEAD OF THE DEALER OR ANY CHAIN STORE BECAUSE YOU WILL BE OVERALL MORE PLEASED WITH THE PERSONAL SERVICE THAT YOU WILL RECEIVE.

The car should be under warranty. Take it to the DEALER and forget the small shops.

I hate dealerships but in this case I would take it back to the dealer. Whatever is wrong with it it will be under warranty.
