I am using DVD Shrink to backup the disc, and then Nero to burn it. I play them in regular DVD players. This setup has worked for me for over a year, and is just now causing this problem.

I haven't ever had that problem. If you have any other DVD burner installed try it, to pinpoint whether or not it is Nero. If it is try a reinstall. If not maybe you have too many other programs running while you are doing the burning and the Nero is writing unevenly from lack of computer resources during that operation.

Sounds like a flaw in your particular program of Nero. & I'm not saying it's a Nero problem, YOUR version has been corrupted. ( Check your disc thoroughly first.) Try uninstalling & reinstalling. See what that does. If it doesn't help, It might be a corrupted Windows issue, it happens. Come to think of it, if it keeps happening in the same place on every cd, or dvd, it might be a bad spot in the burner laser tracker. The laser has to move inward as the burn progresses, if the arm moving the laser (tracker arm) sticks at some point, it would create a spot that cannot be read. If it continues shaking after that point, it would create a disc that is only partially readable by any media device. Although unlikely, if it shakes or sticks at EXACTLY the same place every time, it could double check itself ,shake the same during the check, & think it did a flawless job! If you have another burn device, put it in the computer. That will test the program, & the burner at the same time. Good Luck, I hope I've been helpful! :-)

Your virtual memory may be less. Try to free maximum space on your disk by deleting cookies and temporary files. You may use disc cleanup from windows or use ccleaner software. Another important thing is while writing your CDs/DVDs, please do not run any programme and also enable the option of verifying the data after writing on the CD/DVD is over.

Where are you trying to play back the dvds??? If it's on your pc you probably have too much running or your pc doesn't have enough resources to do it.
