Do you think smoking around children should be allowed? There's so much evidence that cigarette smoke is poisonous that it seems like it should be illegal to smoke anywhere near children (including in your own home if you have children).

While you are right in your thinking, it would be impossible to police all the homes where there is smoking. And if someone was turned in, there would be thousands more who continued to do it. I personally feel, as an ex-smoker that smokers should go outside if they feel the need. That way their children would be protected somewhat.

If a family has a messy home and somebody reports it, the DFS can come in and confiscate the kids. Whether or not you agree with that policy, it's not equitable unless they could also confiscate the kids if it's reported that they smoke around them, because second hand smoke causes asthma, chronic obstructive pulminary disorder, allergies, and many other problems for kids. They either need to have both rules or get rid of both. It doesn't make sense to have one and not the other.

what I don't understand is why smokers are not more considerate. I smoke outside when kids are in the house. I walk away from crowds when i am outside and able to smoke. I don't stand right in front of doors when smoking outside a business. I try very hard to be considerate.

Absolutely, we can't have them grow up too sickly to get sent to war by the psycho-du-jour president, and get blown up for oil. More laws, more nut job politicians, more surveillance cameras. Yeah, that's the ticket. Now, back to Bill O'Reilley.
