There is no evidence to suggest that there is any greater proportion of homosexuals in the population now than there was 50 or 500 years ago. It's just more socially acceptable to admit it now.

The responder above thinks parents are responsible for their children "not turning gay." This is absurd. The only power parents may have is to assure their children (if gay) to deny their sexuality and never admit the truth of the matter.

The first responder is confusing causality. He asserts that homosexuals' relationships with their parents are evidence that they were improperly raised. What is also possible, and actually more likely, is that the parents' negative views toward homosexuality caused problems after they admitted their true sexual orientation.

Since it is probable that roughly the same proportion of people is homosexual throughout history, which has been supported by academic investigation, there is nothing to suggest that homosexuality has anything to do with overpopulation. The answer is no.

Contrary to what those loons up there are writing about it being caused by bad parenting or due to a bad father-son relationship, it is in fact as natural as being heterosexual. There is a great cultural conflict for people raised with the idea that it is somehow wrong to be homosexual, that is why they attribute it to something negative, like bad parenting or father-son relationships or a disease.
Homosexualilty is natural. How could you explain homosexuality in nature otherwise? When animals are homosexual, which they often are, how could bad parenting possibly play a role? Or any other social phenomenon.
Homosexuality is documented in every culture as far back as can be seen, and in some cases it was even very socially accepted. In some cultures it still is ok for straight men to have sex with other men. Where does bad parenting come in to play in that scenario?
Natures solution to overpopulation? When did nature develope a consciousness? Nature doesn't ACT, in that sense. Nature just is, there is no purpose.

It's completely natural to be homosexual. It's likely not nature's solution--that makes it sound like there's some kind of thought behind it. But remember: natural selection is the mechanism by which evolution occurs. It's unlikely that it would favor homosexuality as a means of reducing overpopulation, because natural selection does not favor solutions that result in fewer fertile offspring. Personally, I hypothesize that IF homosexuality has an evolutionary advantage, then that advantage is likely stronger interpersonal ties. Humans are social animals, evolved to live in large groups, and being capable of loving both men and women can help to solidify goodwill and strong bonds of caring among people. In nature, we see our closest relatives, the bonobos, as commonly practicing homosexuality. Bonobos use sex of all kinds as ways to cement ties, reduce tension, and express emotion. Why not people, too?

No! We are not animals. Life is choice driven and usually we make the wrong ones because it feels right! I know in our psych somewhere, we know right from wrong. Maybe not as a child but an adult should know.
How are we infected or, infecting with truth? "You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free!"

In this life we are encumbered with so much garbage and untruths that there is mass confusion every where. When will it all end and when will truth reign out!? It begins with each individual in their right conscience and going forth with it, even if no one else joins you. Everybody seems to be out for themselves and not concerned about anothers' well being, even if it is by wrong choices. Nobody is perfect and all have made mistakes but we can learn by those mistakes and stop going blindly into life acting as if we have no clue! It is not based on feelings but what you know to be right for you and others! Feelings and acting on what you feel can send you into a world of hurt. Follow your right conscience. The heart knows truth and not the head, it get confused and messed-up by wrong thoughts and ideas! KNOW TRUTH!

welll the only known way that nature decides on solutions is natural selection. That "method" relies on reproduction in order to innnovate. I dont see how nature could do anything about it. In social terms, society has often invented other moral and social constraints to regulate population growth like marriage, abstinence before marraige etc etc

Possibly ... I think theres any number of factors that that could contribute to things such as homosexuality. It would certainly make sense that there could be some built in 'switches' in the human brain, pysche, whatever, that could be triggered by overpopulated enviroment or other factors we completely dont realize. Overpopulation would be a logical one. I dont really care to speculate on what other ones could be, but there certainly could be others.

No it's the result of psychological scarring and emotional trauma, particularly in developmental years. Nature doesn't have purposes because it doesn't have a mind. If it did, what you'd be talking about is God. And God's already made his stance clear on the subject. Do a little experiment and ask homosexual people how they got on with their parents, particularly their dad.

God created the World and He made it large enough for us to fit and with all that will satisfy our needs. This World will not be here forever. Homosexuality results from raising children improperly. It's 99% up to the parents to see that children will not turn homosexual.
