Most people I know named Nicole are in their 20's or 30's. Do you think it would work for a new baby? I also like just Nikki for the first name, too.

I don't think it's outdated. It sure beats half of the names that most kids these days have.

Yes I think it is fine I believe Nicole will never be out dated! I am naming my child Darcy Nicole if it is a girl!

It's been around for a lot longer than 30 years- it has stood the test of time, which is more than I can say for most of the names people choose for their babies these days.
Nicole is lovely and lends itself to nice nicknames. Don't forget, the baby won't be a baby forever.

I wouldn't use NIkki as a formal name, but Nicole is certainly a classic. It may be past its peak, but that will mean your daughter has the best of both worlds - an easily recognizable name that she doesn't share with half her class. :)
You might also consider Nicola. I've always been fond of this variant, and it gives you the nickname option Nica.

I think it's a really good name for now because all of the other girls are going to be named Ava, Madison, Madeline, Kassidy, Isabelle, Grace, Rhianna, or Riley. Keep it!!
