I have PCOS and was diagnosed with it at age 15. I went to the doc b/c I would have periods for 2wks go away for 2wks and back etc... She did some blood work and a ultrasound to verify that it was PCOS. I had been on the pill ever since. The pill regulated my period and I never had any pains or anything that I would notice to say I yea I got PCOS that's why it hurts. I just recently got of the pill b/c we are ttc and it's been rough, after being on it for so long (8-1/2 years) my body kinda freaked out when I got off mostly b/c I didn't have those pills in me controlling the PCOS. After visting my doctor for the 1st time so she could prescribe me something to make AF come which she prescribed provera and I aslo did bloodwork and a ultrasound again and that is when she said that I definately have the PCOS still and that the following month if I haven't ovulated she would start me on clomid. Well clomid didn't work for me either. So tomm. I'm starting Ghlucophage so hopefully that will work and I have to take a HSG test. So to sum this all up. I definately would go to the doc as soon as you can b/c if it is PCOS then they will probably start you on some sort of medicine to help you in ttc, some people need help ttc with pcos and some don't you may be like me and defiantely need the help. Hope everything is fine and baby dust to you.

The are 2 major signs a doctor considers an indicator of PCOS:
- irregular periods/amenorrhea (absence of period)
- hirsutism (excess body hair - usually on face)
Also, a woman with PCOS is usually overweight.
If you do think you have it, just ask your Doctor to run some tests on you - PCOS is usually detected first by hormone levels. If hormone levels come back irregular, they will schedule you for more extensive testing (ultrasound, etc).
Good luck - remember as well, 4 months is not a long time. Even if you are over 35 a Doctor does not test for anything until you have been trying to conceive unsuccessfully for 6 months.

they signs of pcos are not ovulating, ireguler cycles, unwanted facial hair, chest hair, stomach hair, hairy legs, overweight, acne, ovary cycts etc
I got tested after ttc#1 for 4 years and were given a virgina ultra sound, I saw the cycts covering both of my ovaries, now my new gyno perscribe metformin to me so that I can have a reguler cycle so far this is my 3rd month on metformin this month clomid would be given to me so that I can ovulate
Most dr reccomend you to ttc for 1 year before assistance wiith fertility problems, 4 months isn't really a long time, but if you think you may have pcos go to the dr right away, its bes to go now then to wait for later,
