I'll admit that i've been under some stress lately and a phase of extreme low confidence. i went and talked to my teacher about it, she said i should go the school counsellor, but i haven't been able to talk to her yet because my exams have been going on.
today, i was feeling like crying really bad although i wasn't feeling sad at all. i couldn't understand it, and then suddenly i just cut my hair. it looks a bit weird and short, but it doesn't really bother me.
i don't know how i should tell my mother. she is going to go insane when she realizes, so far i have been wearing a cap. also, she doesn't know i've been talking to my teacher about my problems, because i know that she'd feel bad about me talking to strangers about personal family stuff and the fact that i went to a teacher rather than going to her.
I am not sure what to do. please help me. i need to tell her in a manner that she doesn't shout at me, because i wouldn't be able to take it if she does.

Well, listening to all your comments gave me the courage to tell her. thank you for the support.
she didn't yell as i had expected and was somewhat happy that i had decided to go to the counsellor.
i feel like soon my problems are gonna go away.
thanks everyone!

As far as talking to a school counselor, everything is kept confidential. I do agree with your teacher that talking to a school counselor is for the best. You learn a lot of things. If you are not ready to tell your mother your problems, than don't.

Just tell ur mom that your feeling depressed and need to see a doctor to make sure everythings ok and then let her see the hair. Chances are that she'll see that you need some help and won't be angry but maybe worried. At least you didn't do a Brittney Spears on your head! Things will get better, good luck.

It will grow back. Hold it together to get through the exams then take some well-deserved, much-needed time off. And next time you happen past a set of clipping shears, keep stepping. Happy Holidays.

Sounds like you need to talk with the family doctor. Doing impulsive and self destructive things like cutting your hair can escalate. Hormone therapy might be in line here to balance the body chemistry and make you think and act normal.

Tell her how you truly feel and to not yell nor shout because you are depressed as it is.
