IMO the worse is preconception in that the person has a preconceived notion of /about something that they strongly believe and all too often it takes the form of prejudice.

A misconception is just an incorrect view/idea...and not usually biased

Mine seem to blend together... preconceptions turn into misconceptions... I've been totally shocked at how "off the mark" I have been on occasion!

I never realized how much I had relied on my preconceptions until just recently! and of course, it was a misconception! w00t, was I ever surprised!

Well preconception means that you have closed your mind to a new idea before you have even heard it, which HAS TO BE a lot worse that having a mistaken idea of what that idea is.

I think Preconception as it does not give you time to assess things on merits. As far misconception you have always chance to correct yourself.

Ms. Mooreman reigns! I cannot conceive in becoming involved in any activity that results in anything with the word conception connected to it at ALL.

Pat cracked me up!

I couldn't decide if pre- or mis- conception was worse. Seems to me, if either were wrong, with the right information forthcoming, either could be changed.

i would say pre -- you have formed an opining with out getting any facts -- mis is caused by at least getting the facts and giving it some thought -- you may be wrong but at least you thought about it!!!!
