what is so bad with the RB that they have now? I don't think a player on the offense side is what they need. they should get a db or a LB. in fact, if they drafted James Laurinites, I might have to secretly root for them. but not out loud. but I would love a vrable-laurintis combo.

If the Pats want a three-headed monster in the backfield then yes, they could draft him. Laurence Maroney gets criticized sometimes for not always running hard (in between the tackles). McFadden does that- and does it well. Wouldn't completely shock me if the Pats draft him before he's drafted #5 by the Raiders. Then, McFadden can compete for the #1 tailback spot vs. Maroney to see if he's still a Heisman-like talent in the pros. You can bet the kitchen sink the Raiders, (if they feel the Pats will draft him), will work a draft-day trade and maybe receive the Pats 1st round spot next year, and this years 2nd, plus an additional 4th or 5th round pick.

There is a really good chance they do because they have the 49ers' draft pick. I hope they don't because other teams could use him more than the Pats.

They definatly COULD get McFadden but will they? No.
As of right now they barley run the ball as it is, and when they do Maroney can do a awesome job. If they pick anyone it should be james laurinitus from Ohio State.

Yeah, it looks like it. But the rumor here in Boston is that they are trading down. They will trade the second pick to get multiple lower picks. Patriots don't like paying a lot of money to one player. That's their strategy and always has been.

I don't know why people suddenly doubt Maroney...He hasn't been used much because of Moss, Stallworth, and Welker...
Yes, McFadden would seriously bolster the running game...but I think they will actually trade down and address the aging D...

Only if the 49ers continue their level of play.... which is terrible. But I see no reason why if he was available that they wouldn't take him he fits perfectly with the Pats.

They will trade it away
Patriots dont need or want "superstars". Better to take 2 or 3 good players than 1 great player

i guarantee that the pats trade the pick. they dont need the second pick in the draft. they need to add depth...they will trade down for current players and extra salary money...
