Typical. He was such a wonderful scapegoat for the gun lovers in Colorado that now his name has to be dragged into another mess that he clearly had nothing to do with. The irony of it all is that Manson's career is nothing like what it once was. Aren't there any other Bogeymen to blame? Of course, this kid's parents are blameless as always.

Whenever kids commit terrible acts, violent or otherwise, the adults will blame popular culture, music in particular. Every decade has a musical scapegoat of some kind. The 50's had Elvis, the 60's had The Beatles, the 70's had Alice Cooper, the 80's had just about any rock band the PMRC could think of and the 90's had Marilyn Manson. I guess they can't find any for the 00's yet so they've decided to blame the most recent one which is Manson.

Since the obvious viewpoint has been expressed, I'll touch on the guy who shot up the churches in Colorado. Why did the media fail to mention the music this guy listened to, or his clothing or hairstyle? Did this guy listen to "High School Musical" or some pop $hit?

The media is very selective in the details which are broadcast. I don't care for Marilyn Manson, but I think it is high time for the media to stop blaming music for the few who lack coping skills.

everyone blames him just because he is so in your face and so out there and he rebels against everything. But if you watch the movie "Bowling For Columbine" there is an interveiw with Manson and it just proves the point that the media needs to blame someone. And than they made a comment that shouldnt Bowling be to blame for the kids shooting up the school cause that was the last thing they were doing before they shot everyone? But i love Manson and i guess everyone just finds it easy to pin the blame on the weird people.

I think there is some confusion here. It was the Colorado shooter who played the Manson song, not the Omaha shooter. And he played it live, he was a musician. BTW, is Manson still even making records?

It's so easy for people to blame others in retrospect. It gives people a feeling of control over something in the past that is completely uncontrollable.

If someone walked into a grocery store today, shot up the place, and shouted, "WATCHING THE GOLDEN GIRLS ON LIFETIME MADE ME DO THIS!!! BEA ARTHUR AKBAR!!!", then they would face similar (although probably not as harsh) scrutiny, but would be dismissed eventually. Just as the Manson thing will be.

Yeah, when I first heard of the shooting I thought to myself "I wonder how long it will take until Manson gets blamed for this one too". I'm sure Manson was expecting his name to come up, he's probably used to this by now.

Blaming Manson is much easier than admitting that you have a screwed up child. ( Yes, he has a new record Eat me, Drink me ) If these parents were doing their jobs, and noticing their children these kinds of murders wouldn't be happening . Blame the parents for being too self involved.

I remember when they blamed Ozzy when a kid committed suicide. they said " Suicide Solution " drive him to it. Yee GODS , didn't they bother to even listen to the lyrics?

... and again I say, how long has it been since Manson has even been relevant.

I want to see a bunch of suburban mothers campaign against Brittney Spears because their 15 year old daughters got busted with cocaine and then got pregnant.
