I use a cane, so I have a defensive weapon always with me. But if you are as young and healthy as your avatar suggests, I don't suppose that will work for you. Besides, it means you have one less arm available to carry packages.

I prefer dropping elbows on mall people - always have them with me, nothing extra to carry.
