Not sure.

The problem is that people on both sides are misinterpreting the treaty/constitution. So I do not know really if it is a surrender to Brussels, or if it is a tidying up exercise with previous treaties.

What I do think is that we deserve a referendum, not one limited to the treaty.constitution, but instead, one on being part of the EU or not.

Because your political representants are incompetent, ineffective and unwise. They were unable to prepare the population for that most important vote. Hereafter my opinion to the "no" of Ireland. Brussels has the best functionairs of the world. They are very well paid, and for 45 free posts the different departments have about 4000 candidates. So by the way, what is meant by burocrates: these highly competent functionairs or your own politicians you send to Brussels? Most of these functionairs are more competent than the politicians that the different governments send to Brussels. If the European Community decides positive dispositions and measures for the countries, their political liars pretend that it is their merite. And if the governments take ineffective, care and unproductive decisions, the political liars say "that is the fault of the European Community. Just tell me one European decision against the country of Ireland. Europe has made a rich country out of Ireland which was the poorest in Europe some years ago, and not your incompetent ineffective Government. And you have thanked the other countries of Europe which have made a "gift" to Ireland of about 45 milliards Euros. Why? Because you believed your political liars and because 54% of irish people have understood nothing at all about the Lisbon treaty. When I consider that there were people who voted "no" because they said not having understood the treaty. Intelligent people who don't understand vote "blank". and not yes and not no. Your politicians have compromised themselves down to the bones. I have no words for such irresponsible representants of Ireland. My friendly suggestion: Dear Ireland give the money back you have got from the Community and leave the European Community as soon as possible. With my best wishes for the future.

I will put the link to the English version up. take note do that Britain and Ireland opted out again of what looks the best part of the whole treaty so far that I have read.

The goals are lofty and desirable. It should be good to developer national policies that support and lead to the goals of the treaty. However, the efficacy of the treaty will depend upon the populaces of each country to act towards the ideals and this may be an expensive and even impossible effort.

yes.
to abide by a treaty that we didn't actually get to agree with or have explained to us what it means.
they have effectively given the final say to all our laws or any new laws, to another country.
it will cost us more to adhere to Brussels than we will benefit from being in this corrupt & sometimes in disarray EU.

a no brainier i think. lets wait and see how people feel about it in a few years time. and to think a lot of people in England worry about Scottish mps voting on English matters. this treaty lets people they have never even heard of and don't even live in the UK vote on things that will affect them. why can't we hear more of them shouting about that.

It's doomed for failure . . . I can't think of any European country that is willing to sacrifice it's national culture for the benefit of another . . .
