I'm not a medical professional and you shouldn.t take any merit in what I say. You should seek qualified advice. Now for my responce. I would advice you to seek a doctors advice, more so if you can afford and have medical insurance, there is no reason not to be safe. You could try drinking a relaxing tea. Might be stress related if you are stressing. Or maybe you need to do a small work out to get yourself tired enough to not wake up. Im unsure, there could be many reasons. I hope you find what you are looking for and get feeling better. byebye

Have you experienced any emotional or stressful events recently? Any environmental changes?

We all suffer from sleeplessness now and again, but it's making sure we get back on track so that it doesn't develop into anything serious that's important.

I suggest trying some relaxation techniques before bedtime, try meditation and progressive relaxation when in bed. Try and give yourself time to unwind before sleep.

If it continues, seek medical advice, although from my experience, there's little a doctor can do if you've only suffered for a few nights. Taking sleeping pills is not the way and really shouldn't be considered.

Try drinking a hot beverage - milk or chamomile tea to help you relax.

I don't know what caused your initial night of insomnia, but being an ex-insomniac I think the problem now is that when you wake up after half an hour you no longer "expect" to be able to sleep any time soon, and therefore you don't. I think it's kind of like your subconscious is doing it to you.

Any way, I recommend getting out of bed, find a comfy chair and read a book, or listen to some soothing music. If you want to read use a reading lamp, it's more relaxing than the bright ceiling light.

Insomnia is often caused by fear, stress, anxiety, medications, herbs, caffeine, depression or sometimes for no apparent reason. Make sure your bedroom is quiet and dark. Soak a tablespoon of mint leaves in a cup of water for an hour, drink every night. Check out http://useinfo-insomnia.blogspot.com/ for more info
