Water heaters have a low temp starting point, for example 90 degrees, and an adjustable high temp. One the water reaches the high temp it will turn off until the low temp turns it on again.
If the water heater has set all night with water that is gradually cooling down, it could be that the water has not cooled down enough to turn it back on. Mornings seem to be when it does this. If the elements are still good, replacing them is waisting money. Just turn on the hot water valve for a little bit when you get up in the morning, if it feels luke-warm, the cold water going into the tank will turn the water heater on. Go have some coffee and watch the news for about 30 minutes then your water should be heated up enough to take a toasty warm bath or shower.

It is either thermostats, could be elements but not likely, if it is an element it will be the bottom element, or it could be a broken diptube inside the heater. Best of luck

Time for a new thermostate.
It can't be the heaters because you have hot water.
If you some electrical ablitiy you can change it.
If not bit the bullet and call a plumber.
Good luck.

So does mine. I had it checked out. The "qualifyed" person said not to worrk. When I wash clothes, its hot & after the cycles, for about an hour, the water tank gets "really" hot. It goes to sleep, "sort of", to save you $$ when not in use.
